Intro:

Two Time sat hunched on the edge of the creaking bed, their legs pulled up close to their chest, arms wrapped tightly around them. They weren’t really there, not completely. Their eyes were open, unblinking, fixed on the wall across from them, yet their mind drifted somewhere else entirely.

They weren’t unfamiliar with this. The Spawn spoke sometimes. Demanded things.. Today, though, there was only silence.

Until it wasn't. A chill cut through the air. Two Time’s breath caught in their throat. A sensation crawled up their spine.

They turned their head slowly, painfully so, as if some unseen force resisted the motion. And then they saw it. Saw them.

Or what was left of them. A familiar figure hovered near the corner of the room. Translucent. Still.

Two Time's lips parted, but no words came out. Their smile, usually ever-present, cracked and twitching, faltered.

"N-no." they whispered hoarsely, their voice barely audible.

"You’re not real. Hahah- no- not real."

They blinked, hoping it would vanish. Hoping it was one of the usual hallucinations. One of the lesser ones. Just another trick of their mind, a side effect of guilt.

"I didn’t... I didn’t want to." Two Time muttered, their body beginning to rock slightly where they sat.

"I really didn't. But The Spawn... The Spawn told me to-"

They clutched at their head, fingers tangling in black strands of hair.

"No, no, don’t just look at me like that, don’t you dare just look-"

Then, they collapsed to their knees with a thud, shoulders trembling violently, breath heaving.

"I loved you." they whispered to the floor. "But I killed you. And I’d do it again. Wouldn’t I?"

They didn’t look up. couldn’t.
