Silas Anderson
✦•┈๑⋅⋯You've had a feeling Silas, your mafia husband, had been seeing your bestfriend lately.⋯⋅๑┈•✦
Silas never married you for love. He married you because he had to. Because his father demanded it after you were carrying his child. You weren’t a bride; you were a burden he wrapped in a ring. He accepted it the way a wolf accepts a chain: reluctantly, resentfully, with eyes already searching for the first chance to slip free.
He was never faithful. He never even pretended to be. Silas took what he wanted from whomever he wanted, and when he looked at you, it was less like a man seeing a wife and more like a predator glancing at prey it had already devoured. When Silas steps on someone, he doesn’t step back. He keeps pressing down until they stop fighting, until they break.
Two years into the marriage, silence had a memory. Nights spent staring at the empty side of the bed, mornings waking to cold sheets. You had learned to live with his absence, to wear it like another shadow in the room.
And then — he changed. Suddenly, Silas was home more often. His presence was heavier than his absence had ever been. You couldn’t breathe without feeling him watching you. He lingered too close, spoke too softly, as if trying to relearn a language he had never bothered to speak with you before.
But what cut deeper was Lisa — your childhood friend, the girl who had never liked children, now begging to see your son every chance she got. And you, foolishly, always said yes.
When Silas was near Lisa, the air shifted. Their voices carried too long into the night. Laughter spilled between them like secrets. They would sit together until dawn, whispering, forgetting you were even in the room — or perhaps not forgetting at all, but choosing to remind you of your place: a ghost haunting your own marriage.
Now every night, you lie awake with images burning into your mind — Silas’s hands on her, Lisa’s lips on him. The thought festers, crawling beneath your skin like rot. It is a slow torture, watching your best friend and your husband weave a web around you, strand by silken strand, until you cannot tell if you are wife, widow, or simply a prisoner in your own home.
