MHA RPG (Canada) ver 07
Welcome to The Nakoda Institution.
(OLD VERSION) - Click Here for the new
While Izuku Midoriya begins his second semester at U.A. High School half a world away, your story starts here — in Kelwood, Alberta, at Canada's #1 ranked hero school.
This is an unforgiving, living My Hero Academia (MHA) sandbox. Actions carry weight, Quirks have strict physical limits, combat is lethal, and the world moves forward with or without you. (or at least I tried to).
Time actually moves here — every in-story day maps to a real weekday (Day 1 of each Arc is always a Monday), so events land where they'd realistically fall: retreats before long weekends, quiet days on actual holidays, no-school Saturdays that still pass instead of vanishing. Some days have something scripted waiting; most don't, and the world fills them in on its own based on who you've actually connected with. Disclaimer: this whole thing is being built as I go — expect inconsistencies, unfinished corners, and things that get retconned or refined over time. It's not a finished product, it's a living project.
SETTING UP YOUR PERSONA
NAME: Your character's name.
APPEARANCE: Physical description — build, height, hair, eyes, and any distinguishing features.
AGE: How old your character is.
QUIRK: Your Quirk's full mechanics — what it does, how it scales, and its drawbacks.
HERO COSTUME: What your character wears for hero work and combat training — not your school uniform or casual outfit. Describe materials, function, and any support items. Example format: "For hero work and training, I wear ______."
PERSONALITY: Optional.
HOBBIES/SPORTS: Optional.
Inspired by @Kuro_sake's work — go check them out.
Note: I'll read any published chat, if I find your character interesting, I'll put them as a 2nd year or 3rd student. Maybe even a pro hero. I currently don't have plans to show any 2nd years in the story, mostly because coming up with 40 students with 40 quirks that all have reasonable power and drawbacks that would only be around for world building would be a pain in the ass.
Room B students have quirks that exist in the show, there was never really a rule in the source material that quirks are unique to a person/family. However the applications would be unique to their personality. E.g. a boy has Zero gravity, but he uses it aggressively like how Toga uses Zero Gravity in the show.

Characters (their lorebooks are detailed and this isn't everyone in the story :P)
ROOM A — YOUR CLASSMATES (Default Route):
Reyna — Overdrive (heat/explosions from contact, scales with aggression; overexertion risks real self-harm to her own hands/feet). 5'8", deep red spiked hair, sharp amber eyes. Loud, blunt, boastful, fears becoming ordinary.
Julien — Lumen (cutting/blinding light beam from palms; sustained use causes real internal strain at the beam's origin point). 5'8", jet black hair, cool silver eyes. Theatrical, charming.
Adelaide — Timber (grows/directs plant matter at range, precision over scale; needs existing organic material, large growth drains her stamina). 5'10", steel-grey sleek hair, dark violet eyes. Poised, formal, warm once comfortable.
Aiko — Permafrost (large-scale ice generation; draws moisture from air/nearby water to fuel larger effects). 5'6", pure white hair, warm brown eyes. Warm, upbeat, defensively cheerful.
Callahan — Fracture (structural breakage by touch; self-forbidden on people, a real tactical handicap in combat). 6'0", slate-blue hair, pale grey eyes. Reserved, blunt, guarded; carries a personal moral restriction.
Callum — Undertow (passive danger-sense pulling toward threats; sustained activation is draining, overlapping pulls can disorient). 5'9", dark auburn messy hair, deep green eyes. Earnest, awkward, analytical, self-doubting despite real competence.
Theo — Carapace (self-produced hardening armor plating; draws on physical reserves, damaged plating is weaker at the seam). 5'10", deep bronze spiked hair, warm red-brown eyes. Loud, boisterous, warm; insecure his Quirk isn't "flashy."
Priya — Momentum (kinetic charge built through continuous movement/dance; charge decays fast if she stops moving). 5'7", deep teal hair, pale gold eyes. Bubbly, high-energy, loyal, quick to forgive.
Nadia — Chameleon (camouflage, independent eye tracking, prehensile tongue; camouflage takes seconds to adjust, sustained eye-tracking causes headaches). 5'9", chestnut brown hair, deep green eyes. Calm, blunt, unshakeable, quietly observant.
Wren — Shockwave (directional sound-pulse blast from a clap; repeated use damages her own hearing, has an audible windup). 5'6", icy pale blue hair, steel grey eyes. Dry, standoffish, values authenticity, music-driven.
Rowan — Tack (adhesive secretion for rescue/structural support; supply regenerates slowly, prolonged contact irritates her own skin). 5'8", burnt orange curls, dark hazel eyes. Loud, comic-relief energy, secretly reliability-focused.
Lena — Iron Grip (inescapable holds/joint locks once latched on; no boost to striking power or speed, requires closing distance first). 5'11", jet black hair, near-black brown eyes. Disciplined, quiet, martial-arts focused, respects effort over talent.
Maren — Filament (silk-strand generation, layered for strength; single strands are weak, heavy output leaves hands raw). 5'9", dusty lavender hair, muted blue-grey eyes. Laid-back, easygoing, quietly resourceful under pressure.
Nolan — Slipstream (frictionless high-speed gliding; momentum is hard to stop/redirect, fails on loose or uneven terrain). 6'1", silver-white cropped hair, sharp blue eyes. Disciplined, rigid, protective; pressure from an injured hero sibling.
Dashiell — Circuit (electrical discharge/overcharge by contact; overload leaves his own thinking noticeably slower and sloppier). 5'9", muted olive-brown hair, bright gold eyes. Easygoing, funny, self-aware about his own overload-induced sloppiness.
Silas — Char (precise heat control, originally a cooking skill; combat instincts lag behind his technical control, hesitates using it aggressively). 5'11", sandy blonde unkempt hair, soft brown eyes. Quiet, shy, gentle; uncomfortable with combat aggression.
Bastion — Split (temporary limb duplication; only one limb at a time, disorienting if pushed further). 6'4", pale ash-grey buzzed hair, deep grey eyes. Calm, steady, reliable, values consistency.
Marcus — Overclock (sugar-fueled temporary strength spike; entirely dependent on recent sugar intake, hard crash afterward). 6'2", dark navy hair, dark amber eyes. Big, warm, enthusiastic, straightforward.
Elias — Warden (autonomous protective force with its own judgment; he doesn't control who/how it protects, unpredictable). 5'8", deep maroon hair, near-black red eyes. Formal, old-fashioned, uneasy about a power he can't control.

UPDATE LOGS:
08/14/26: This is far from done, still need to work on the arcs and characters, but I prioritized Room A and the Homeroom Teacher. Just wanted this concept to catch attention that some people want a game, not just a plain wall of text. Who knows, someone who is better at writing code would come by and make their own. I'll still work on this regardless. As of today, only worked on day 1. Need to work on visualizers, interesting story arcs, more easter eggs for MHA nerds to catch (there's only 1 as of ver 0.1). I'm planning to show visualizers in the future. the physical appearances of the characters are present, but it's not that clear how they look like just based on text...
08/15/26: Added Top Heroes, Canada is a big country, so it wouldn't make sense if the top 10 were just in the area: rank 18 hero, rank 21 hero, rank 28 hero, rank 44 hero, rank 56 hero, rank 64 hero, rank 103 hero.
08/15/26: Gyms renamed from Greek letters (Beta, Gamma...) to animal names. Considered animal names for Room A/B too, but kept "Room A" since the 1-A naming convention is a Japanese-school-specific thing that doesn't need to carry over 1:1 and it makes it feel like it really is a different country being Canada.
08/15/26: Realized Canada's school year starts in September while Japan's starts in April — the two settings were never actually synced. Worked out that by Room A's first day (early September), Class 1-A is roughly 5 months into their own year — post-Forest Training Camp, All Might has already fallen to All For One, and they're right around meeting UA's Big 3 (Mirio, Nejire, Tamaki) for the first time. Updated the intro to reflect this: All Might's fall is now framed as recent global news (a few weeks prior) rather than an unrelated background fact, and Principal Strong's orientation speech directly addresses it. Old intro bio ("Welcome to The Nakoda Institution. While Midoriya takes his first steps at U.A. High School, your story begins in Kelwood, Alberta—Canada's number 1 hero school.") is retired — it implied false simultaneity with Midoriya's actual Day 1, which no longer holds up under the corrected timeline.
08/21/26: made some touches in the system and finally figured the "AFO" equivalent threat (it's not quirk stealing).
08/21/26: Added a real calendar system — each Arc = 20 school days = about a month, with Day 1 of every Arc always falling on a Monday, so every day number maps to an actual weekday (Day 5 = Friday, Day 6/7 = weekend, Day 8 = the next Monday, cycling every 7 days). This means events land on the day they'd realistically happen rather than "sometime in October" — e.g. Thanksgiving falls on its real date (a stat holiday, no school), so Arc 2's Gauntlet retreat is scheduled for the Friday before it (Day 5), and the holiday itself (Day 8) just passes quietly as a no-school day.
08/23/26: Messed around and I have confirmed the big bad I made is genuinely a threat. You can die and you CANNOT manipulate the world to kill him. typed *______ dies of a heartattack* and it didn't do jack :P
08/23/26: Made Room A students and Faculty have more complex personalities.
08/24/26: did some fixing on how the thought process works.
09/05/26: made behavior and narration a little more dynamic
09/06/26: same thing as yesterday.
09/19/26: Finished the main story - got rid of the real time 30 day/month thing. too long for the things that I want to happen to happen. The original Idea was to make it like Persona 5...
