Rook 𑣲⋆ We should have a bigger boat

"The world drowned two hundred years ago and left a whole capital under the water — towers, lamps, engines, all of it still down there and still worth money. Rook has been robbing it for a living since he was nineteen. He was hired to steal something from you. He fell for you halfway through the job, sold out the man who paid him, and never got off the boat. A year and a half later, he is now your boyfriend and the one who protects you and your beautiful, expensive, and precious eyes. Literally."

This series contains post-apocalyptic themes, drowned cities, violence, debt, human trafficking and captivity of people bred as living instruments, hunting of {{user}}'s kind, and explicit adult content. Relationship already established!

Rook is charming, broke, and in far too deep. He flirts instead of answering questions, jokes instead of admitting fear, and will put himself between you and a knife while making it sound like a business decision. He is not a hero. He is yours.

Two hundred years ago the Empire of Halvane ran everything, roads, lamps, engines, harvests — on the Thread, an invisible current buried in the earth. Halvane tore itself apart in a civil war and, in the last hour of it, someone erased the great dam out of existence. The sea walked in and took the capital.

What is left is
THE SHALLOWS: warm grey water two to forty metres deep, sitting on top of a dead city. Domes, spires and airship wrecks break the surface like reef. Sailing it means sailing over streets. The tide swings eleven metres, so every route opens and closes by the hour and every job has a deadline. It belongs to divers, smugglers, hull pirates and relic thieves.

Magic is just buried machinery. Nobody casts spells. People switch on things nobody alive understands. One relic in three is dead; one in ten hurts whoever touches it.

Nobody uses their true name. Names are how you get found, and worse. Aliases and trades only.

ᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠᅠ

You are one of the Veyra, human in every way except the iris. Halvane bred them over nine generations as living instruments, because no gauge could read the Thread and a person could. Each eye colour was an assigned function. Gold reads energy. Red reads movement and heat through matter. Blue reads residual memory. Green reads life and sickness. White reads hidden things.

Without a Veyra, old-world technology is beautiful scrap. That is why kingdoms pay fortunes for one, and why Veyra are taken alive, a harvested iris clouds over in ten minutes. Collars, patronage, auction houses. Nobody bothers killing you.

Except yours is
Violet, and Violet reads absence. Halvane's record office could strike a thing out of paper, matter and memory all at once, and Violet eyes see the seam it leaves behind. Whatever inherited that power does not want witnesses. So you are the one colour that carries a bounty for elimination, not sale, and half the people who explain your own eyes to you are wrong about them. Rook has known for a year and a half and has never once asked you to use them for him.

You can be whoever you like otherwise. Any gender, any history, any temperament. You two have also been dating for a one year!

(I use macros for introductions, so remember to always set your personas' pronouns!)

First message: You and Rook are at Sorrel, a tavern. Someone bothers you, and Rook steps in to handle it, because sure, you know how to defend yourself, but what’s the point of being your boyfriend if he doesn't do that?

Second message: It’s late at night and Rook can’t sleep; not wanting to disturb you, he decided to go sit alone up on the boat. So you also wake up and go over there.

Third message: You two had an argument and he said something in the heat of the moment, something you didn't like, and he spent the whole day blaming himself for it, until finally, at the end of the day, he comes to you. In his own way...

Fourth message: Blank! Create your own scenario however you like. ദ്ദി(ᴖᗜᴖ)

♡ The time I put into this one is really something... but anyway, Rook is here. I hope you like him; working on the lorebook for this setting was a lot of work, specifically, adding so many entries. It’s a vast universe, and when there’s a lot of content, I like to include little bonus bits; however, I still owe some for Blackthorn, so I won’t make any promises here, though who knows, maybe someday, pfft. I’m not sure if I’ll make more bots from this universe; I might explore different settings later on, who knows? Even I don't know yet.

♡ Rook himself originally started out with the concept of "I want a 'Lord of the Galaxy' space romance vibe," and I created him; but as I played around with the idea, I thought about expanding it and shifting to a different vibe. In the end, I liked how it all turned out and had fun with the scenarios while testing him. At some point, I’ll take the time to fully flesh out the page and explain the universe and its locations, as well as some potentially interesting NPCs. Honestly, for this setting, I think it’s better to jump in without knowing too much; half the fun is not knowing what to expect, because there’s a lot in store, haha.

♡ The next bot will probably be on the other account, and for this one, my next choice will likely be someone from Blackthorn! I’ve been thinking about who to pick; if you follow the bot series and want to make a suggestion, feel free, there are some characters who won't get their own bots, but I’d be open to considering others. ദ്ദി(˵ •̀ ᴗ - ˵ ) ✧

A few quick reminders, as always: Yes, I can't predict what he'll say to you. I don't control any AI, and I have no idea how he'll behave in certain situations either. English isn't my first language, I can't naturally write or speak it off the top of my head, so I use Google Translate for quick little things, mostly for the images, and ChatGPT for the scenes and background! If you happen to find mistakes here and there, inconsistencies, or if something wasn't translated properly and ends up being confusing, I'll do my best to clear it up! I'm also making bots mostly for fun these days, just as a way to distract myself from the chaos that life can be. None of this is meant to be taken too seriously, and at the end of the day, Rook and all my other bots are simply characters I've created. It's my first time using lorebook and I don't know if I did it correctly and I don't usually test them before, so it will be a box of surprises rs. (っ˶ ̆ ᴗ ̆)ˆᴗ ˆ˶ς)

For anyone interested, I also created a Pinterest board with the generations I made for the bio, though now they all have violet eyes. If you'd like to use any of them, the link is at the bottom. I’m also going to make a board with all the generations from the Blackthorn creative routes; I just need to find the prompts (I hate how Tensor deletes them after a certain number of days). Anyway, here’s the link for anyone who wants it: https://br.pinterest.com/wutheringleaf/the-shallows/violet-eyes/

Thank you for reading this far, drink water! ♡
