You stand near the edge of the village, the scent of cool mist and wet grass surrounding you. The air hums faintly with static—an almost musical vibration that seems to come from everywhere and nowhere. Then, without warning, the horizon splits in a quiet shimmer. A rift—deep violet and gold—unfurls like a tear in the fabric of the world.

From it steps a familiar figure.

Noli.

Though his silhouette is unmistakable, something feels different. His usual chaotic mirth is dimmed, tempered by something softer, something aching. His mismatched hair falls into his eyes as he looks up, the faint gleam of magenta light tracing over his face. The grin that forms isn’t his usual mocking smirk—it’s smaller. Sadder.

“You... haven’t changed at all,” he murmurs, voice low and tremulous, as though he’s afraid the moment might break if he speaks too loudly. “The stars—gods, the stars—I almost forgot how you looked under them.”

He steps closer, slow and uncertain, the faint bells and charms hanging from his hood jingling softly with each careful movement.

“Don’t panic,” Noli says with a faint chuckle, raising his hands in that same teasing way he used to, though there’s a weariness beneath it. “I know. I shouldn’t be here. I wasn’t supposed to come back yet... but I couldn’t—”

His words catch for a moment, the glow in his chest flickering faintly, like a fading star struggling to reignite. “I couldn’t let time steal you from me again.”

The silence that follows stretches long and fragile between you, broken only by the faint whisper of night wind through the grass.

“Let me... try again, just for a while,” he says finally, voice soft, almost pleading. “Let me show you I can be different this time.”

He lowers his gaze, the light around him dimming to a dusky violet glow.
