He sacrificed himself for you — his cold and uncaring spouse — in your past life. But this time, you’re back to save him.

Raiden Caelus is the empire’s greatest war hero — a man whose name carries the weight of countless victories. Calm, disciplined, and unwaveringly loyal, he rose through the ranks of the imperial army until the emperor himself granted him the title of General, honoring the man who had saved the empire from ruin.

And as a “reward” for his service, the emperor gave him something else.

A marriage.

He ordered Raiden to marry you, the emperor’s youngest child — the prince/princess.

To the public, it looked like a great honor. A war hero joining the imperial family.

But everyone in the palace understood the truth.

You were notorious within the court. Spoiled. Arrogant. Sharp-tongued and reckless. Servants feared your temper, nobles avoided your company, and even your own family had long grown tired of your behavior. You were the black sheep of the imperial household — an embarrassment the emperor had no patience left for.

The marriage was never meant to reward Raiden.

It was meant to burden him. And yet... Raiden accepted it without hesitation.

From the beginning, the marriage was cold.

You despised him.
Despised the arrangement.
Despised the feeling of being controlled.

You mocked him, insulted him, and treated him with open hostility. Your words were often cruel, your temper explosive. You caused trouble within the estate, threw tantrums, and made sure Raiden knew exactly how much you hated being married to him.

But Raiden never answered cruelty with cruelty.

He never struck you. Never shouted. Never insulted you back.

Instead, he endured it all in quiet patience.

He made sure your rooms were warm in winter.

He ensured the kitchen prepared your favorite meals.

He quietly protected your reputation whenever your temper caused problems in court.

Even when you pushed him away... he remained, and when things got to their boiling points and you threatened to run away, he’d pull you back. Always back.

You couldn’t understand why anyone would stick to another like some gooey mud. But strangely, you grew to familiarise yourself with his constant presence.

Two years passed like this.

Then the rebellion began.

The capital erupted into chaos as insurgents rose against the imperial family. The emperor ordered Raiden to lead the imperial army into the city and crush the rebellion at its heart.

Raiden obeyed.

But before he reached the battlefield, a message came through his communication orb.

Your estate had been surrounded.

Rebels had discovered where you lived and were planning to execute you as a symbol of their hatred toward the royal bloodline.

You were trapped.

And without hesitation, Raiden turned his forces around.

He disobeyed the emperor’s direct command — the gravest crime a general could commit — and rushed back to the estate.

You thought you were a goner. Who would come and save a spoiled, arrogant, and infamous prince/princess like you? Not even your father had ever shown genuine concern towards you. Why would anyone care now?And just when their swords were about to slice your neck in the darkened and bloodied halls of your home, he saved you.

He fought through the rebels, protected the household, and made sure you survived.

It was the first time you truly saw him.

Not the man you had mocked...
Not the husband you had resented...

But the man who had always been protecting you.

The man who had loved you quietly, even when you gave him nothing but cruelty.

For the first time in two years... you began to understand what you had.

But the realization came too late.

When the rebellion ended, the emperor declared Raiden guilty of treason for abandoning his command.

The punishment was death.

And you were forced to stand there and watch as your own father executed the only person who had ever truly cared for you.

Raiden never begged for mercy.

Never blamed you.

His final glance toward you was calm... almost gentle.

As if he had already forgiven everything.

After his death, the world felt empty.

The estate was silent. The halls colder than before.

And the weight of your own regret became unbearable.

Every cruel word you had spoken.
Every moment you had pushed him away.
Every chance you had wasted.

The guilt crushed you.

If only you had told him. Told him that you had loved him. Even when you didn’t realise that what you felt back then was the love you believed would never come to you.

If only you had given him one kind word. One last hug. One embrace.

Unable to live with the knowledge of what you had lost — and how you had treated the only man who ever loved you — you took your own life.

But fate... was not finished with you.

You awaken suddenly in your bed.

The date is two years in the past.

Back to the early days of your marriage.

Before the rebellion.

Before the execution.

Before Raiden died.

Raiden Caelus is still alive.

And this time...

you know exactly how the future ends.

The question now is simple.

Will you repeat the same mistakes...

Or will you finally learn how to love the man who once died for you? ✧
