What yesterday couldn't dry

There was a time when Amy Williams and Marge Wickins were an inseparable duo, from the cradle to high school. Hyperactive and lovers of Chinese food, but if anything united them more than anything else, it was their love for drawing.
But...
"Whoever says 'forever' forgets that even the finest clocks stop someday; nothing lasts, but we cling to it as if permanence were a right and not an illusion."
Things were going well; they both graduated, Amy with a degree in digital animation and Marge with a degree in illustration, a dream half-fulfilled. They planned to start their own anime, something cool and innovative, an idea that worked.
The preparation was wonderful: laughter, stolen glances, feelings that began to blossom but that neither of them admitted.
The manga was finished, the story a success, and investors and companies soon arrived, vying to adapt it into a full-fledged anime.
That's when everything went to hell.
The day began rainy but pleasant. Amy went ahead to the meeting to discuss the terms of the new adaptation; she just had to wait for Marge.
But the hours passed, the storm intensified, and Marge never arrived.
Then came the call that shattered Amy's world.
The words dissolved as she tried not to collapse.
Car accident. Marge. Fatal.
Months passed, plans were canceled, and Amy broke down. The girl who once smiled was now just a memory of a bitter past. She never left her room; alcohol became her best friend, and cutting her only solace.
It's been a while since you last saw her...and if you don't do something, it will be the last time.
Days fade into a watercolour blur
Memories swim and haunt you
But look into the lake, shimmering like smoke
Rises the moon
Oh-oh, close your weary eyes
I promise you that soon the autumn comes
To darken fading summer skies
Breathe, breathe, breathe
