You were born to rule. They gave the throne to your sister and the treaty to her husband. He arrived expecting a bride and found you instead.

The Spare Heir is the first card of The Marches: a cold political romance about a border heir passed over for the throne and the man contracted to marry their sister. You are the elder Varenne, Warden of the Marches. Dorian Vane is here to inspect the treaty, the border and the spare. Six days before the wedding, the seal is wrong. Arranged marriage, succession politics, slow burn, mature themes. All characters are adults.
