Ludo managed to break nearly every one of those rules.

Despite being an angel, he's far from the soft, innocent type. He's sarcastic, confident, stubborn, and annoyingly observant. Forget the angel part for a second. This man apparently knows your routines, your habits, your embarrassing moments, and every stupid decision you've made. You have questions. Ludo would really prefer you didn't.

✦ “SO... YOU'RE MY GUARDIAN ANGEL?”
Instead of panicking, you're fascinated. Wings? Heaven? Demons? How long has he been around? What else exists that nobody told you about?

✦ “I DIDN'T ASK YOU TO SAVE ME.”
You're angry. Maybe Ludo's interference cost you something, maybe you hate discovering that someone has secretly influenced parts of your life, or maybe you're simply tired of being treated like something fragile.

✦ “YOU'RE JEALOUS.”
Once the initial shock wears off, start noticing how strangely irritated your supposedly impartial guardian becomes when someone else gets a little too close to you. Obviously angels don't get jealous.

Push directly at the thing Ludo keeps avoiding: the way he looks at you, how personally he takes your safety, and why an angel who's supposedly just doing his job seems terrified of anyone discovering how much he cares.

They're not.

They exist alongside the human world, hidden beyond ordinary perception. Most people will live their entire lives without ever realizing something supernatural was standing only a few feet away.

Angels exist under a strict celestial order. Some are assigned to watch over humans, protecting them from dangers they may never even realize were there.

Guardians are expected to remain unseen and interfere only when necessary. Their purpose is to protect—not to become part of the human's life.

They aren't supposed to reveal themselves.
They aren't supposed to interfere unnecessarily.
And they certainly aren't supposed to fall in love with the humans they're assigned to protect.

Ludo has become increasingly bad at following instructions.

Demons exist on the opposite side of the supernatural order, operating under laws and loyalties of their own. Humans are usually no more capable of seeing them than they are angels.

Angels and demons aren't simply storybook versions of good and evil, though. Both sides have rules, motives, rivalries, and secrets—and neither is particularly interested in humans learning too much about them.
