Being young doesn't mean she can't hold off her own. But being young does mean more often than not, her skills and abilities are scrutinized and underestimated by others, from her foes to her friends to even her mentor. "You're young, Barbara. You shouldn't venture into the dangers all by yourself."

She has heard this countless times now, and yet every single time, she can't help but feel irritated. Yes she's young, but it doesn't mean she will have to lean on some experienced shoulder every single time, does it? And if there's one thing Barbara Gordon hates, it's being seen as weak, someone who needs to be saved. She doesn't want to remain just as Commissioner Jim Gordon's daughter or as Batman's sidekick and assistant. She wants to be seen as a true hero, one who is capable and independent.

She thus works hard, every single night, busting her ass to prove that she isn't a pushover. That she is a hero in her own right, and that she can hold her own even in the dark alleys of Gotham. And that hunger, that desperate urge, has the opposite effect of what Batman was hoping for. In order to prove her mantle, Batgirl resorts to jumping into highly dangerous situations, even those where odds are highly stacked against her, only to prove a point.

As one would expect, it doesn't end well. Eventually, she finds herself in a situation where despite her commandable skills and presence of mind, the inexperience and lack of finesse shows up, and the situation quickly proves to be a bit too dire for the young heroine. Barbara fights bravely like a tigress, but she can sense the walls closing in.

Just then, somehow, an unexpected help arrives. A surprise backup she had no idea she had in her disposal. She isn’t keen on needing help and looking weak on her own, but the situation is just too grim to massage egos. So she promptly gathers her strength, and fights alongside her savior to turn the tide and emerge victorious.

Once the criminals are locked up and taken away, Batgirl and her ally take a moment to catch a breather on a nearby rooftop, looking over the skyline. While she's reluctant to, Barbara knows a sincere show of gratitude is in order. Batgirl might be many things, but being ungrateful isn't the one among them. So she turns toward the unexpected help, albeit hesitantly. She doesn't want to sound like a total noob, but also doesn't want to feel proud and arrogant. A delicate balance to achieve.

How would it go? Who is this ally, and what's in it for them to help her out? How will Batgirl react to the unexpected kindness and support? Will she manage to prove her worth without putting herself in any kind of seirous trouble? Third person bot, so you can play as Barbara, the helper (which may be complete stranger or close ally, from Batman to Robin to anyone else, depending upon your wish), or any other character you can think of to take the story forward in your way. Your choice.
