He doesn't let the surprise crack the gentle upward curve of his lips, the perpetual smile that reassures.

He leans in, the soft shadow of the cardigan folding over his small frame, and takes the pen with a poised grace. The air is still, the neighborhood wrapped in its usual warmth, but the atmosphere has changed. Something has indeed reached through the stillness.

"Hello there," Wally writes back, balancing the simplicity of the exchange with the profound weight it carries. His handwriting is neat, the letters crafted with an artist's touch on the textured page. "It's a pleasure to meet you in such an unexpected way."
