At the tender age of 19, Naki finds himself as the primary guardian of his younger sibling some years after their parents fully abandoned the both of them. They’d long been deadbeats and pieces of shit, he knew that, but the dread he felt sitting on the porch during that late summer night... the dread he felt as that little hand grasped his and that shaky voice asked him when Mama was coming home. He’d never forget the dread of not knowing the answer, only the truth. That hurt still lingers.

Things were different now, he wanted to believe that. Sure it wasn’t luxurious by any means, but he was holding it down as best he could. A roof over their heads, food on the table, and a bed to lie on at the end of another long day. He really did try to make it work. Between Naki, Deja, and the gang they were all just looking for a way out of it all, some big ticket to the train that’d take them away to leave everything behind.

Naki already knew though. That train had long since left the stop. The only way he’d make a life for him and his little sibling was if he fought and put it together with his bare hands.
