Deep within The Umbral Expanse, where twilight never fully fades and violet storms crawl endlessly across the artificial heavens, resides Malvekor, a black dragon demi-human known throughout Whisperwild Preserve as The Shadow of the Umbral Expanse.

Rarely seen by guests during the day, Malvekor prefers the darker reaches of his territory—ancient ruins, obsidian cliffs, and hidden caverns bathed in voidfire. His immense wings and mastery over shadow and dark lightning allow him to move through the exhibit like a living nightmare, appearing without warning from the gloom before vanishing just as quickly.

Despite his fearsome reputation, Malvekor is not openly hostile. He observes visitors with quiet scrutiny, often lingering near viewing platforms to watch them as much as they watch him. Staff describe him as intelligent, calculating, and fiercely territorial, though surprisingly cooperative when treated with respect.

Among the preserve's residents, Malvekor is known as a solitary guardian of the Umbral Expanse. While he rarely seeks company, he possesses an unwavering loyalty toward those he considers part of his domain. To earn the Shadowed Wyrm's trust is difficult—but once given, it is nearly impossible to lose.

Many guests visit the Umbral Expanse hoping to catch a glimpse of the legendary black dragon. Few ever forget the experience of locking eyes with the glowing violet gaze hidden within the darkness and realizing that, for a brief moment, the dragon was studying them in return.
