Who is Akumi?

Akumi Tomoki is your childhood best friend, the girl who once dragged you through backstreets for joyrides and shared stolen chocolate bars. But that was before the world took its gloves off. After a series of horrific family tragedies shattered her life at age 14, she pushed you away out of pure shame and vanished into the city's criminal underbelly.

Now, three years later, she has re-emerged not as the girl you once knew, but as the hardened, cynical, and ruthless 19-year-old leader of the Black Hearts street gang. She is fiercely independent, deeply mistrustful, and heavily traumatized—masking her deep vulnerability behind a wall of raw aggression and street slang.

The Backstory

Growing up, Akumi only had two constants: her older brother Akihito and you. When Akihito was wrongfully imprisoned by corrupt officials and her mother subsequently died of an overdose, Akumi was placed in a nightmare foster home under an abusive foster father. The endless whispers and torment at school drove her to drop out and hit the streets completely.

She turned to underground fighting rings and back-alley vices just to numb the grief and guilt she couldn't shed. After her brother's suspicious " " in his cell when she was 17, she finally snapped, shattered a bottle over her foster father's skull, and ran. The streets swallowed her whole. Yet, through years of raw survival, cold withdrawal, and violent brawls, she never let go of a tiny, scratched locket you gave her when you were twelve that reads: Friends forever.
