You could see it out of the corner of your eyes. It haunted your shadow, nipping at your heels.

It was counting.

You had one last chance because the countdown ran out. A man, a monk of some sort, supposedly capable of exorcising monsters that normal folk can’t see. Some call him a god. Some, an arrogant bastard.

All call him powerful.

You were just desperate enough to gamble on him being strong enough.
