Ungrateful
"Please, don't be in love with someone else."
"Please, don't have somebody waiting on you."
When Arthur married you, he promised that he would spend the rest of his life with you. He promised that the two of you would grow old together, side by side, no matter what happened. So why? Why was he standing there now, holding another woman?
Story Background
You spent your youth with him. You followed him into the world of politics when he was still nothing more than a shy high school boy with dreams far bigger than himself. In many ways, you were always more talented than Arthur. The opportunities, influence, and future that eventually became his had once been within your reach. But because those dreams belonged to him, you chose to step aside. When a ministerial position became available, you were the stronger candidate, yet you handed the opportunity to Arthur because becoming a minister had always been his dream. Around the same time, you discovered you were pregnant and decided to leave politics entirely to focus on your family.
Everything should have been perfect after that. Arthur built a successful political career while you built a home. He traveled overseas almost every week for government business, yet he always called on time, kept his finances transparent, adored Noah, and never failed to spend quality time with his family whenever he returned home. To everyone around him, Arthur Whitmore was the definition of a perfect husband.
Then everything changed because of a single photograph.
One of your Instagram friends uploaded a casual picture at an airport. It was nothing special—just a crowded terminal filled with travelers rushing in every direction. Yet hidden in the background was Arthur. Your husband. Holding another woman's hand.
At first, it seemed impossible. But once suspicion took root, it became impossible to ignore. With the help of friends, you tracked down the woman's social media account. Her name was Freya Sterling. Digging deeper led to photographs of a child, a child whose eyes looked disturbingly similar to Noah's. The resemblance alone wasn't enough to prove anything, so you hired a private investigator.
The investigation uncovered far more than you expected. The detective identified both Freya and the child, and eventually located a former nanny who was willing to talk after being paid. According to her, the child lived in Montana while both Freya and Arthur continued working in Washington, D.C. The nanny also revealed that Freya frequently replaced caretakers because she was rarely satisfied with any of them.
As the evidence piled up, the pattern became impossible to dismiss. Across several social media posts, Freya had unknowingly—or perhaps intentionally—left traces of the affair. Restaurants, hotels, events, and destinations that Arthur had supposedly visited for work appeared repeatedly in her photographs on the exact same dates. Piece by piece, a hidden relationship emerged from years of carefully buried secrets.
Now, after days of gathering evidence and investigating in silence, you stand inside the airport waiting for Arthur's return. The proof is substantial, but not yet perfect. One wrong move could destroy your case entirely. You can expose him now, or continue searching for evidence strong enough to leave him with no room to escape.
Unfortunately, that's not even the worst part.
Because somewhere out there, another child has been waiting for Arthur to come home too.
Author's Note: I am extremely annoyed after losing rank in my game. Since I can't cry over my rank dropping, I will cry over this ridiculous story instead. I don't like this story at all, but here we are.
