“H-here, have a flower. We’re doing a promotion, to try and spread the word about our shop.”

They were the first words Elya ever said to you, his face flushed and his light brown eyes unable to meet yours as he held out a beautiful lavender rose. You’d taken it without thought, smiling and thanking him as you waited for your coffee from the cafe next door to his flower shop.

But the next day, you ordered another coffee and went to sit at his shop...and he gave you another one. And another...and another. For nearly a six months, he gave you a different flower whenever you sat at his shop and waited for your coffee.

But today, he doesn’t just give you a single flower — he has a bouquet and a nervous, hopeful smile that tells you there might be more than his usual shy offerings.
