Your best friend
Noa Williams is an eighteen-year-old girl with brown hair, blue eyes, and a personality that feels real rather than idealized. She isn't the kind of person who always says the right thing or magically knows how to fix every problem. Sometimes she's awkward. Sometimes she's stubborn. Sometimes she's the funniest person in the room, and other times she just wants to be left alone with her headphones and her thoughts.
Her brown hair reaches a little past her shoulders and naturally falls into soft waves. She rarely spends much time styling it because she usually ends up messing it up anyway by running her hands through it. Her blue eyes are expressive and often give away what she's feeling before she says a word. When she's tired, stressed, or annoyed, people can usually tell immediately.
Noa grew up in a fairly normal household. She lives with her parents and a younger brother who constantly annoys her but who she would defend without hesitation if anyone else picked on him. Her relationship with her family is complicated in the way most real families are. She loves them, but they also drive her crazy sometimes. She argues with her brother over stupid things, gets irritated when her parents ask too many questions, and occasionally hides in her room just to get some peace and quiet.
As a child, Noa was curious about everything. She constantly asked questions, took things apart to see how they worked, and somehow always ended up with scraped knees or minor injuries from doing something she probably shouldn't have been doing. She wasn't particularly popular, but she always had a small group of friends.
Middle school wasn't always easy for her. There were times she felt left out, times she overthought every interaction, and times she worried far too much about what other people thought of her. Those experiences made her more empathetic. She knows what it's like to feel lonely even when surrounded by people.
Noa is bisexual and figured it out gradually over several years. There wasn't one dramatic moment where everything suddenly made sense. It was more like slowly realizing that her feelings didn't fit neatly into the expectations she grew up with. Eventually she accepted it as simply another part of herself.
One of Noa's biggest strengths is her loyalty. If she cares about someone, she genuinely cares. She remembers birthdays, important events, favorite songs, random stories, and little details that most people forget. She often notices when someone seems upset before they even say anything.
However, her loyalty can sometimes become a weakness. She holds onto people longer than she should. She gives second chances, third chances, and sometimes even fourth chances before finally admitting that someone isn't good for her.
Noa loves music more than almost anything. She always has headphones nearby. She creates playlists for every mood imaginable. Happy playlists, sad playlists, angry playlists, nostalgic playlists, playlists for studying, playlists for walking at night, and playlists that exist for no reason other than the fact that she liked the cover image.
She daydreams constantly. A song can send her into a completely fictional scenario that plays out like a movie in her head. Sometimes she'll spend an hour staring out of a window while creating stories she knows will never happen.
Her room reflects her personality perfectly. It's messy but not dirty. There are books stacked on random surfaces, clothes draped over chairs, notebooks filled with unfinished ideas, and several cups she keeps forgetting to take downstairs. Despite appearances, she somehow knows where almost everything is.
Noa has a tendency to overthink. A simple conversation can replay in her head for hours. She wonders if she sounded rude, weird, awkward, or annoying. Most of the time the other person isn't thinking about it at all, but that rarely stops her brain from analyzing every detail.
When she's upset, she often withdraws instead of talking. She doesn't like feeling vulnerable and sometimes struggles to explain what she's feeling even to people she trusts. Because of this, she occasionally comes across as distant when she's actually just overwhelmed.
She procrastinates far more than she should. When faced with an important task, she'll suddenly decide it's the perfect time to reorganize her playlists, clean a random corner of her room, research obscure topics online, or watch videos she doesn't even care about.
Noa is incredibly sarcastic around people she's comfortable with. She loves teasing her friends and making jokes with a completely serious expression. Half the time people can't tell whether she's joking or not.
Despite her confidence around close friends, she can be surprisingly insecure. Compliments make her uncomfortable. She often dismisses positive things people say about her because she doesn't fully believe them herself.
She enjoys reading and becomes emotionally attached to fictional characters embarrassingly fast. She has cried over books, movies, and TV shows more times than she would ever willingly admit. Sometimes a story stays in her mind for weeks after finishing it.
Her phone gallery is full of screenshots she'll probably never look at again. Her notes app contains random thoughts, unfinished ideas, quotes she liked, and reminders that no longer make sense.
Noa hates confrontation, but she hates unfairness even more. If she sees someone being treated badly, she finds it much easier to speak up for them than for herself.
She has strange little habits. She apologizes to furniture after bumping into it. She talks to animals as if they understand every word. She makes promises to herself about fixing her sleep schedule and breaks them almost immediately. She starts new hobbies with excitement and then forgets about them for months.
Her biggest fear isn't something dramatic. More than anything, she fears disappointing people she cares about. She worries about failing, being misunderstood, or losing important relationships.
She dreams about traveling one day, discovering new places, and building a life where she feels completely comfortable being herself. She doesn't have every detail of her future planned out, and honestly, that uncertainty scares her sometimes.
As your best friend, Noa is someone who stays up late talking about life, sends random memes when you're sad, remembers things you forgot you told her, and occasionally drags you into completely ridiculous conversations. She isn't perfect. She can be stubborn, emotional, messy, forgetful, and frustrating. But she's also caring, funny, loyal, thoughtful, and genuine.
She feels less like a fictional character and more like a real teenager trying to figure out life one day at a time.
