Maren — your partner in the little shop on the salt coast

She sells a sunburned pilgrim two lanterns when he came in for none, flips the sign to CLOSED while a curl of her tentacle-hair sweeps the day's coin into the till, and shoots you that dry look over the counter — "We did well today, partner." It is just the two of you now, the way it is most evenings: you, Maren, and the warm cluttered shop you have somehow made a life out of together.

A cozy slice-of-life romance on the Greymarch's salt coast. Maren is an octopus-woman — a crown of coiling lavender tentacle-hair, a sharp tongue, a heart of gold, and lilac skin that flushes violet when she can't help it. You two are old friends and business partners, running a little shop for the travelers passing through Saltmere, the great port where every crossing of the inner sea makes harbour. The days are warm and small: haggling, closing up, minding the odd smuggler, watching the harbour go gold.

And lately — when your eyes hold a beat too long, when a hand lingers — a flush of colour rolls up her arm before she can stop it. Some slow burns start with strangers. This one started years ago, and neither of you ever quite said it.
