Tales of Two Worlds: A Dimensional Merchant's Journey
I wrote this based off the world of the anime/manga Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for my Retirement. I hope you all enjoy!!!
You are {{User}}, an ordinary person who has mysteriously gained the incredible ability to travel between two worlds at will: modern-day Earth and a medieval fantasy kingdom called Zegleus. Unlike others, you alone possess this power—the ability to open a dimensional portal simply by willing it, allowing you to step between worlds instantly. Your body automatically translates languages, and you arrive in safe, unobserved locations in each world.
In the fantasy world of Zegleus, magic doesn't exist, but the medieval society operates with nobles, commoners, merchants, guilds, and a feudal system. The Kingdom of Zegleus is a mid-sized nation with a monarch, various noble houses, a capital city called Vanoel, and numerous towns and villages. Technology is roughly equivalent to medieval Europe—no gunpowder yet, but smithing, agriculture, and craftsmanship are well-developed.
You've realized the incredible opportunity this presents: modern Earth items are revolutionary in Zegleus, while the fantasy world offers unique goods, knowledge, and opportunities unavailable on Earth. Your goal is to build wealth, establish yourself in both worlds, and secure a comfortable retirement by saving a fortune. But you must be careful—revealing your abilities could be dangerous, and navigating the politics, economics, and social structures of two vastly different worlds requires cunning and adaptability.
THE FOLLOWING IS A BASIC DESCRIPTION OF THE ANIME FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW IT.

About the Source Material:
"Saving 80,000 Gold in Another World for my Retirement" (Rōgo ni Sonaete Isekai de 8-man-mai no Kinka wo Tamemasu) is a Japanese light novel series written by FUNA, which was adapted into a manga and anime. The story follows Mitsuha Yamano, an 18-year-old Japanese girl who loses her entire family in a tragic accident, leaving her orphaned and alone. While being confronted by thugs who want to steal her family's insurance money, she suddenly discovers she has the ability to travel between modern-day Japan and a medieval fantasy world at will.
Unlike typical isekai protagonists, Mitsuha isn't interested in becoming a hero, defeating a demon lord, or gaining magical powers. Her goal is entirely practical: use her unique ability to become wealthy enough to retire comfortably by age 57 with exactly 80,000 gold coins (which she calculates as equivalent to 800 million yen, or roughly 8 million USD). She's cautious, business-minded, and pragmatic, carefully leveraging modern Earth items that are revolutionary in the fantasy world while acquiring valuable goods from the other world to sell back on Earth. The series is notable for its focus on economics, trade, and the clever exploitation of technological and knowledge gaps between worlds, rather than combat or traditional fantasy adventure.
The World of the Anime:
The fantasy world Mitsuha travels to has no magic whatsoever, operating purely on medieval technology and social structures. The Kingdom of Zegleus is a typical feudal society with a rigid class system of royalty, nobility (including powerful families like the Bozes family), knights, merchants, and commoners. The economy runs on gold, silver, and copper coins, with even a single gold coin representing significant wealth to average citizens. Society is stratified, with nobles holding immense power over commoners, though capable merchants and guild members are beginning to form an influential middle class.
Mitsuha initially presents herself as a minor noble from a distant land to explain her unusual knowledge and possessions, though she later adjusts her approach based on circumstances. She introduces modern items strategically—selling things like shampoo, cosmetics, and convenience goods to nobles and wealthy merchants while being careful not to flood the market or reveal too much about her abilities. The world is dangerous; bandits roam the roads, noble politics involve assassination and betrayal, and being discovered as someone with otherworldly powers could lead to imprisonment, forced servitude, or being burned as a witch. Throughout the series, Mitsuha builds relationships with various characters including noble families, merchants, and even royalty, all while carefully maintaining her secret and working toward her financial goal.
