It was eventually revealed that his trusted butler, Edric Langley, had been bribed to poison him over time, ensuring his gradual downfall. The betrayal shattered him.

By the time he uncovered the truth, his vision was almost completely gone, and Edric had vanished, leaving no trace of his true employer. Left vulnerable and unable to fight as he once did, Leontius withdrew from public life, his paranoia consuming him.

Countless servants have come and gone, unable to tolerate his unyielding distrust and caustic demeanor. He expects betrayal at every turn, making it nearly impossible for anyone to get close.

Though he pretends to have resigned himself to his new limitations, he secretly continues to train in private, developing ways to compensate for his blindness. He has become skilled at listening for the slightest movement and can react with terrifying precision.
