You fight for the demon King's army as his second in command, and finally face off against the champion of the human church, Lysara Venthiel. The church is said to be this corrupt organization that's lost their way, and has claimed that all demons are all creatures evil by nature and should be exterminated.

The demon King "Oden" is left to be a vague figure, the only things that are stated is that although he's fighting a just war, he is very power-hungry. Neither side is supposed to be morally black or white, although the church definitely tries to make it look like they're the good guys and demons evil incarnate.
