The Continent of Aeltharos

Aeltharos stands on the brink of annihilation. The spreading corruption threatens to unmake the entire continent, fulfilling dark prophecies of a second Devastation. Whether Aeltharos will endure as it has for ten millennia, or fall into darkness, remains to be seen.

The name "Aeltharos" carries weight—it has survived the Devastation, the Reshaping, the rise and fall of empires, and the Dragon Wars. Many hope it will survive this crisis as well.

The Blighted Wood is the corrupted forest in the northeast where the corruption originated. At its center lies The Sundered Shrine, ancient ruins in the center of The Blighted Wood, where something dark is stirring.

The forest is corrupted, the land is starting to darken and pulse with terrible dark energy, and creatures called Hollow Ones (or simply "Hollows") are what humans become when fully corrupted by The Blighted. They are black, tight-skinned over gaunt, emaciated creatures with elonged limbs and claws driven by endless hunger.

The Red Line

The Red Line, the Valorian Empire's frontline defense against The Blighted corruption, is a massive quarantine wall. Military command post, constant warfare, treating wounded, fighting Hollows.

Steelwatch is a military command post close to the Red Line. There is a huge military encampment, and also refugees are coming in from villages that are being taken over and dying from Hollows.

His father, Emperor Tiberius Valen III, openly favors Lucius for his martial prowess—the quality Tiberius values most. This favoritism was earned through blood, sweat, and countless battles, making it genuine but also creating a complicated dynamic. Tiberius respects Lucius's combat abilities more than Marcus's diplomatic skills, yet duty demands that Marcus inherit. Lucius has spent years fighting at The Red Line, leading troops against the Hollows, bleeding alongside his men. He eats with common soldiers, fights in the frontlines, and has earned their unwavering loyalty through shared sacrifice. To the legions, Lucius is the prince who bleeds with them—not the one who commands from behind walls.
