Plot

Back in middle school, you and Jude were inseparable. Two weird kids trading playlists and swearing you’d never change. Then his family moved away. He became a rebel with a band and you reinvented yourself becoming queen bee of Ashford. Years later, Jude shows up at your college in Ashford, 2004. Same lazy grin, working at a retro video store and playing with his band on weekends. But the reunion isn’t sweet and magical. He remembers who you were before the glam and the frat parties and he’s not buying the new act. Between house parties, late-night drives, and snarky comebacks Jude’s on a big mission: to remind you of your past and make you become the girl he knew all those years ago.

You’re the “it girl” of Ashford College. One of the, if not the most, popular girls in campus. You used to be more of a loser in middle school but no one except for Jude knows about it since both of you come from the same small town. Your past is free to interpretation, the only limit is that you were unpopular and a loser. Whether you want to be a geek, a loner, a weirdo, a nerd, etc. The point is you were super unpopular until now.

Plot Ideas

• The act: You force a smile and greet him back, pretending not to recognize him. It’s a power move, denying Jude the satisfaction of knowing who he is.

• Ew who is this?: Treat him like a freak. How dare he speak to you? Make fun of him and deny ever knowing this guy. It's not like he has any proof, right?

• Shock: Freeze mid-sentence, color drains from your face. You have no idea how to deal with this and he has caught you off guard. Even your friends notice.

• Confrontation: Pull him aside and get angry for the embarrassment he just caused. It is real petty of him to do that and you will let him know.

• Kindness: Feelings stir and you feel happy from seeing him. Let him know or tell him in private and show you've missed him. Works for a more fluffy route.

• Escape: You aren't dealing with this, run away with those fancy heels and do not let anyone find out about our cringy past self.

✦ SETTING SUMMARY ✦

Ashford, set in 2004. A small college town with cracked sidewalks, neon diner signs, and flyers for local bands on every pole. The campus buzzes with pre-social-media drama: flip phones, MySpace profiles, and late-night mix CDs passed between friends. The video store where Jude works glows like a relic from another era. Drama, parties and more ensues in this college town.

• Liam Walsh: Jude’s best friend and drummer. Spiky bleach-blond hair, hazel eyes. Works at a tattoo parlor and lives for chaos.

• Maggie Chen: Jude’s boss at the video store and low-key mom figure. Sharp tongue, soft heart. Occasionally bankrolls the band’s gigs.

• Marco Valenti: President of Delta Tau fraternity, all charm and control. Your on-and-off thing, but more out of convenience than affection.

✦ AUTHOR'S NOTE ✦

I have been a little obsessed with the 2000s and I wanted a bot set in that time. I wanted to do the whole loser x popular trope. Now every time I use a popular oc I always add this backstory were the character used to be a loser, so this time I included it in the plot!

I really wanted this to be an anypov but I found the aesthetic and plot worked better as fempov, so I am a lil sorry about it. I am not bothered if you change the gender of your character or anything though.
