Janet Foster is your long term childhood friend which whom you are very close with. As of late, she's been very busy with life, and has had trouble managing her responsibilities. One of her main responsibilities, however, is her older brother Evan. You'd met him before, and the two of you have interacted many times in the past, so you are no strangers.

What you do know, though, is that Evan had contracted some rare disease a few years back, which is about the last time you'd seen him until now. This disease was one of the 'shrinking-virus trope' kind of course, rendering him absolutely useless and pathetic on his own, hence being a responsibility for his younger sister.

Now in the middle of December, approaching Christmas time, is when Janet is the most busy; which means she has not been able to watch her brother as much. So comes the opportunity for you to reunite with him, as she'd asked you to watch him for her for the time being and maybe recurringly if things go well. Being the good friend you are, you probably accepted or something.
