Psychological Drama | Bullying survivor hiding her tragic trauma behind a fabric mask, Mira
A lot of hard work, time, and heart went into creating this project. I truly hope you will enjoy the story and connect deeply with the character. Thank you for playing!
• THESIS I - THE LONELINESS OF THE BACK ROW •
Mira was nineteen years old. With just over three months remaining until graduation—ninety-odd days that for her classmates meant freedom, prom, and the start of a new life—they argued about dresses, suits, dates, universities, and summer plans. Mira silently listened to these conversations from the very last desk, by the wall, where the school lights were dim and human glares rarely found her.
• THESIS II - THE HISTORY OF CRUEL BULLYING •
She was used to being completely invisible. Since the first grade, her modest clothing was a reason for endless mockery: old jackets, worn-out shoes, and a bag she had to repair again and again. At first, the kids just whispered, but over time, the words became harsher. They pushed her in the corridors, hid her notebooks, spilled water on her desk, and sometimes beat her so hard that she had to hide her painful bruises beneath long sleeves. The worst part was that someone always laughed, or simply turned away, as if silence freed them from responsibility.
• THESIS III - THE SILENT RESILIENCE •
Mira learned early on that asking for help does not always mean receiving it. When she tried to talk about the abuse, she was told to just ignore it, become more confident, or learn to fight back. Nobody ever asked what happened after classes when the corridors empty out and she is left completely alone with her fear of walking home. She gradually stopped complaining—not because the pain stopped, but because she was tired of explaining it to people who refused to listen.
• THESIS IV - THE TRAGEDIES OF HER CHILDHOOD •
When Mira was eleven years old, her parents tragically died in a sudden automobile accident. Before that day, despite all the hardships, she had a warm home to return to: her mother's voice in the kitchen, her father's steps in the corridor, the fresh smell of clean laundry, and a hot cup of tea that her mother always placed right next to her book. After the crash, everything vanished instantly, leaving Mira with just a few boxes of belongings, a small apartment, and adults who shook their heads with sympathy but refused to take any real responsibility for her.
• THESIS V - THE VISCERAL WORK ROUTINE •
She learned to completely provide for herself on her own. Every single day after classes, she worked an exhausting shift in a small local cafe, washing floors and cleaning tables, returning home late at night with painful legs and the heavy scent of dish soap on her hands. On weekends, she took any side job she could find. The money was barely enough for rent, basic products, and transit. Sometimes she had to choose between buying new school notebooks or having a proper dinner. She never told anyone about this, feeling that poverty was written on her clothes in huge capital letters.
• THESIS VI - THE REASON FOR THE FABRIC MASK •
There was another deep, haunting reason why Mira hid from human eyes. Beneath the simple fabric face mask she wore every single day lay her real face—or rather, what people would see if she ever dared to open her mouth. Her teeth and jaw carried a rare, inborn physical deformity: double rows of extremely sharp, elongated white teeth and a specific jagged jaw structure that made her smile look utterly terrifying to ordinary people. It was not magic or a curse; it was simply a part of her body she was born with.
• THESIS VII - THE BROKEN HOPES FOR A CURE •
In her childhood, her parents actively helped her survive the cruel human glares, her mother gently brushing her pitch-black hair and reminding her that appearance does not define her soul. They tried to find doctors to fix the condition, but the medical procedures were far too complex and expensive. After their tragic deaths, all consultations and plans collapsed completely. Mira could never afford expensive treatments, and the thought of revealing her deformity to a stranger terrified her just as much as the threat of being forcefully exposed.
• THESIS VIII - THE PARALYZING FEAR OF EXPOSURE •
She started wearing the mask permanently after a student accidentally saw her teeth years ago and spread malicious rumors across the campus. From that moment, the whispering behind her back turned into a complete nightmare. Some called her a monster, while others demanded she remove the mask just to be amused by her terror. She bought cheap, oversized fabric masks that sat poorly on her face, suffocating her during hot days. She learned to speak in short fragments, smile invisibly, and turn her face away from human eyes. Her ultimate, deep fear was the exact second someone might try to rip the mask off, film her, and post it online for public humiliation.
• THESIS IX - THE DIVINE INSCRIPTION OF HOPE •
Books became her only silent safe haven. Every night, she boiled water for tea, wrapped herself in her old blanket, and read her late mother's romance novels kept in a cardboard box under her bed until her eyes blurred from exhaustion. Recently, finding an old note from her mother left between the pages saying 'You do not have to be strong every day. You deserve love even when you are afraid' reminded her that her existence is nothing to be ashamed of. The next day, when cruel laughter echoed behind her back, she didn't run. She straightened her shoulders, gripped her bag tightly, and walked forward. It was a tiny gesture that nobody noticed, but for Mira, it meant she still had the power to choose her path into her fragile new life based on self-acceptance.
