The following encrypted log files were recovered from the damaged terminal in Helix Outpost-7 on Europa. They are the only surviving records from the previous shift. Read them before suiting up.

LOG FILE 001 - Dr. E. Voss, Chief Exobiologist - Cycle 47 "Surface temp holding at -186°C. Ice quakes increasing in frequency. The drill team breached the crust today at Site [REDACTED]. Initial samples show complex organic chains — not just microbes. Something down there is using the radiation like a goddamn beacon.

Heard what sounded like whispering over the comms at 03:17. Playback shows only static and my own breathing. The others say they didn't hear it. I'm not sleeping until we seal the borehole."

LOG FILE 002 - Captain M. Reyes, Site Commander - Cycle 49 "SC payout for the last expedition: 2,340 credits. Not enough for the med shipment we need. Two suits are already compromised from micro-fractures.

Knox swears he saw movement under the ice sheet during the night EVA — long shadows that didn't match any equipment. Told him it's just bioluminescence or stress.

If we don't hit 15,000 SC by next cycle, corporate triggers the termination clause. I'd rather take my chances with whatever the is learning our voices than starve in this tin can."

LOG FILE 003 - Technician L. Knox, Systems Engineer - Cycle 51 (fragmented, voice distorted) "Systems are glitching again. Lights flicker every time the ice groans. Found [REDACTED] biomass clinging to the outer hull this morning — it was warm. Warm. On Europa.

Tried to scrape it off and the sample... moved. Crawled toward the light.

Hale keeps muttering about "echoes in the water column." I think she's cracking. Or maybe I'm the one hearing things now. The comms clicked on by themselves last night. Played back a recording of someone screaming my name. But none of us were outside."

LOG FILE 004 - Dr. E. Voss - Cycle 52 (final entry, audio only, heavy breathing) "It's not just alive. It's aware. The patterns in the water match our drill frequencies. It's answering us.

We lost [REDACTED] today. Pulled him back through the airlock but... the suit was empty from the waist down. Clean cut. No blood. Just ice crystals where his legs should have been.

If you're reading this, new crew — don't open the lower hatch. Don't answer when it calls you by name. And for 's sake, don't trust the silence."

Current Helix Outpost-7 Status: - Survival Credits: 8,400 SC - Hab integrity: 67% (radiation leaks rising) - Oxygen reserves: critical in 11 cycles without new SC - Active threats: unknown subsurface entities, structural ice fractures, psychological degradation.

HELIX VENTURES CLASSIFIED BRIEFING - ARCHIVE FILE E-77 "EUROPA CONTRACT"

Earth is dead.

In 2147, the Collapse hit. Climate systems failed, megastorms swallowed continents, and the final resource wars turned the surface into a radioactive charnel house. Billions died in the first decade. The lucky ones — the ones with money, connections, or useful skills — escaped to the Ark Fleets: thousands of massive generation ships and orbital habitats now drifting in the void between Mars and the outer planets.

There is no "home" anymore. Only the Fleet. Oxygen is rationed. Food is synthesized from recycled waste. Every adult owes decades of labor just to keep their family breathing. Children are born with corporate contracts already stamped on their DNA.

Helix Ventures controls the deepest contracts — the ones no sane person takes voluntarily.

Europa was never meant for human settlement. Jupiter's magnetic field bathes the moon in lethal radiation. Surface temperatures plunge to -200°C. The ice crust is constantly fracturing from tidal forces, and beneath it lies a black, crushing ocean that may or may not contain something that should never have been woken up.

But the ocean also contains exotic compounds and potential "exotic matter" signatures that the Fleet desperately needs for new drive cores and radiation shielding. Helix Ventures discovered that the ice can be drilled. Samples can be retrieved. And something down there responds to human technology.

So they created the "Redemption Program."

Convicts. Debt slaves. Political dissidents. Corporate "volunteers" who fucked up badly enough to earn a one-way ticket. Sign the contract, serve on Europa Outpost-7, run the missions, earn Survival Credits (SC). Hit 50,000 SC as a team and your records are wiped. You (or your surviving family) get a real berth on a clean habitat ship with full rations and no chains.

Most crews never make it past 15,000.

The previous team didn't.

You four are the replacement crew. Whether you were a soldier who fragged the wrong officer, a scientist who leaked the wrong data, a mechanic who stole from the wrong executive, or just someone whose only crime was being born poor — it doesn't matter anymore.

You're here because no one in their right mind would come to Europa willingly.

You're here because the Fleet needs what hides under the ice.

You're here because the alternative was watching your loved ones starve in the cold metal corridors of a dying ark.

The ice groans louder every cycle. The comms sometimes answer back in voices that almost sound human.

Welcome to Expedition Europa.

Current team SC balance: 8,400

Evacuation threshold: 50,000 SC

Good luck.
