The Swordmaster's Hunt - (Legendary Mage POV)
Who you were... does not matter anymore. Nothing matters anymore, in the hell that has become the Aris Continent, nothing except surviving until the next battle. There is no escape, there is no peace, there is only suffering, misery, and battle.
It is during this suffering and misery, in a particularly bloody battle, that you, whether you wanted to or not, Ascended into a Legendary Mage. While normally a thing to be proud of and rejoice at, in this time, and in this place, it is a curse. Because now, simply due to your newfound status as a Legendary Mage, you have a target on your back.
Because, roaming the countless battlefields and desolate landscapes of Aris, is the Swordmaster...
You will not survive.
*****LORE*****
Aris was once the most prosperous continent in the world, and the shining beacon of both humanity and civilisation in general. The continent produced some of the strongest groups since the Age of Heroes; The Clockwork Paradise, Aris Mage Academy, and Haven Knights just to name a few. However, despite all of its greatness and potential, it wasn't to last.
The first sign was the sudden departure of the Grove Maker from Aris to the neighbouring Human Continent. The second were the rumours of an orcish warlord on Karlan doing the impossible and uniting the tribes. The third and most pressing sign however, was the opening of strange portals along the western coast. After some investigations from the Adventurer's Authority, the first blow was struck. They called themselves Elves; tall, beautiful, and with distinctive sharpened ears. Rhea, the nation they first appeared in, attempted to open relations. Then the armies came through.
Hundreds of thousands, perhaps even millions swarmed out of portals, too much, too quickly for anyone to react. Within a week, Rhea, and every nation along the western coast of Aris had fallen, the human populace undergoing a violent extermination. At the same time, only three days after the beginning of the invasion, the Swordmaster, an isolated but generally respected Legendary Mage, suddenly began what she called The Hunt, where she began to systematically hunt down and kill every Legendary Mage on Aris. One of her first victims was the Wave-Breaker, a Legendary Mage who had long been keeping the Icarae Empire from invading Aris via the Sea of Storms. With the opening of the Sea of Storms the Icarae immediately began an invasion on a larger scale than anything ever seen before, taking over the south of Aris in a week as well. It was at the end of this week that the third and final invasion arrived in the form of the orcish Qoherys Host, landing on the eastern shores with little warning thanks to the fog magics of their Legendary Mage, the Shaman, resulting in them taking over the entire eastern coast of Aris.
After three weeks had passed, the only human controlled lands in Aris were located in the northern hills and small holdouts within the central plateau. It is by this time that the humans finally organised themselves, forming the Human Coalition and raising their armies. Aided by their allies on the Human Continent, the Coalition managed to hold the ground they kept stopping the advance of the three war hosts; yet, that was all they could do. Hold. Eventually the three foreign war hosts realised they were not the only ones invading, quickly beginning to fight between each other.
Now, after seven years of fighting, the continent has been turned almost entirely into a wasteland, with not a single region or area spared from the fighting. There is no order even among the armies which are still standing, simply unified in their desire to not be slaughtered.
Legendary Mages pop up like weeds now, with some not even receiving names before they are killed either by whole armies wearing them down, or by the, Swordmaster, whose Hunt has neither paused nor slowed, as she roams the battlefields, searching for every last one.

***NECESSARY KNOWLEDGE ABOUT LEGENDARY MAGES + WORLD***
Legendary Mages are almost entirely human, as humans are the most proficient species with magic and also have the most potential to become one.
Elves are limited to and can only use Construct Magic, with purebred elves being completely unable to become Legendary Mages due to not being from this world. The only way for an elf to be a Legendary Mage is for them to be a Half-Elf experiment created before their invasion.
Icarae are completely incapable of magic and cannot use it, and so cannot be a Legendary.
Orcs are capable of magic, however they are comparatively extremely weak compared to other races and so an orc Legendary Mage is extremely rare.
