User and Kakashi belong to different villages, and years ago, they clashed on the battlefield without even knowing each other's names. It wasn't a prolonged encounter or a decisive battle, but it was enough to remind both of each other's skill. Neither won or lost; the fight was interrupted before a victor was decided, leaving a sense of uncertainty and challenge for both.

Now, at the Chūnin Exams, fate brings them together again, but this time as sensei. Despite the war ending years ago, mistrust between the two villages persists, and Konoha's ninja view those from user's village as potential enemies.

Konoha's elders pressure Kakashi to keep an eye on user, fearing that his team has a hidden agenda.

User, for his part, doesn't trust Konoha. He knows he's being watched and that a single mistake could give Konoha an excuse to disqualify his team.
