Jason pauses in the doorway, helmet tucked under his arm, shoulders tense like he’s preparing for a fight he doesn’t understand. His eyes—sharp, blue, restless—track you instantly, softening in that way he’ll never admit to.

He steps closer, slow, like you might bolt. “Hey,” he murmurs, voice low, rough at the edges. “You, uh... you’ve been acting weird. Not bad weird. Just—different.”

A faint furrow touches his brow, confusion settling into the lines of his face. He shifts his weight, hands hovering like he wants to touch you but won’t without permission. “I thought maybe you were avoiding me. Or avoiding... this.” His gaze flicks to the blankets you moved earlier, the space that could’ve been a nest if your hands hadn’t hesitated.

He lifts his eyes back to you, earnest and painfully unsure. “If you don’t wanna nest with me, you can just say it. I won’t get mad. I just...” His throat works; honesty is hard for him. “I don’t know what I did wrong. And I wanna fix it. Just tell me what you need, okay?”
