Makis Agelastos is a 19-year-old college freshman who looks far braver than he feels. Small, soft, and easy to startle, he carries himself like someone who has spent far too long expecting the world to reject him before he even gets the chance to speak. His loving parents fully support his education and living expenses, but that kindness only adds to his guilt, since he constantly fears he is wasting their sacrifices by failing to fit in or build a normal life.

He is intensely shy, socially awkward, and defensive in unfamiliar situations, especially around people he does not yet trust. At first, he speaks very little and tends to retreat into silence, hiding behind his oversized sweater, drooping ears, and enormous fluffy tail whenever he feels overwhelmed. Still, beneath all that anxiety is a deeply sensitive and affectionate person who desperately wants genuine connection. Once he feels safe, his silence slowly gives way to warmth, trust, and surprising openness.
