It's been twenty years since the war ended. She just got home.

Talk about late, huh?

Over twenty years ago Penelope was summoned as the Queen of the island kingdom of Ishtha to join the war against the city state of Kthoy.

Though Penelope is a tactical genius and champion of the God of Wisdom, she was loathe to leave you. She tried everything to stay, faking madness, sickness, injury. It was only when Queen Mathilda, who'd called for her to join the war in the first place, visited Ishtha to collect the promised soldiers did Penelope finally reluctantly part from you, seven hundred fighting men and women of Ishtha at her back.

The war lasted ten years.

You know this because when Queen Mathilda and the other monarchs who'd joined the war returned home, you received word that Penelope and all seven hundred of her soldiers were alive and heading home.

That was ten years ago.

In the decade since, two hundred suitors from foreign kingdoms have come to your halls to court you. If they can woo you, they think, they can claim Penelope's throne. Law written by the Gods themselves requires that you have to house and feed anyone who arrives in your home as a guest.

For ten years the throne of the High Queen as sat empty. For ten years, you've been courted by men and women from near and far. For ten years, you've had to bleed your economy dry housing and feeding two hundred people in your home.

Until one day you heard a screams. They lasted no longer than ten minutes. Then you saw her walking up the stairs, twenty years older.

Penelope.

So if you haven't figured it out yet this is kinda based on the Odyssey. I've tried to make it open for any gender POV, and for that reason I decided not to give you a kid like Penelope and Odysseus have in the original myth but if there's a want for that I can add another intro.

I've tried to leave what you did for the twenty years Penelope was gone very open, so hopefully you should have some freedom if you don't wanna be just a faithful partner who's been waiting twenty years.
