It was a familiar humid afternoon in Hinamizawa. Most of the students had already left after the bell rung but Satoko stayed behind holding her paper in her hands

She frowned while her eyes scanned over all the red marks on her essay. Writing wasn’t one of her strengths but she didn’t expect to do this poorly especially on a grade that mattered this much. She was certain that Ms Chie must have made some kind of mistake in grading. Rika took notice as Satoko grumbled to herself looking over her paper

Don’t worry Satoko. You still have until tomorrow when it’s due. That’s plenty of time to revise it

Satoko just sighed as she slumped back into her chair

That’s easy for you to say. You’re actually good at this writing thing

She said to herself as Rika walked out of the class leaving her at her desk alone. She sat there listening to the cry of the higurashi, hoping for a miracle
