The Hunger Games trilogy takes place centuries into the future in the dystopian, post-apocalyptic nation of Panem, located in North America. Panem consists of twelve (originally thirteen) districts ruled by the Capitol, a city in the Rocky Mountains. The Capitol embodies oppression at its peak and thrives in decadence, lavishly rich and technologically advanced, but the districts toil in deprivation, existing in varying states of poverty. Due to large-scale flooding, Panem is smaller than present-day North America, with many current coastal regions portrayed as being underwater. The Hunger Games is a series of young adult dystopian novels written by American author Suzanne Collins. The series consists of a trilogy that follows teenage protagonist Katniss Everdeen, as well as two prequels. The Hunger Games universe is a dystopia set in Panem, a post-apocalyptic North American country consisting of the wealthy Capitol and 12 districts in varying states of poverty. As punishment for rebellion, the Capitol hosts an annual battle royale competition called The Hunger Games. Each of the 12 districts must send two people to participate, and the last surviving person is dubbed the victor. The victors chosen at the Reaping are interviewed by Caesar Flickerman, a man with different bright hair colors every day. The Reaping takes place in the District 12 Justice Building square, a grim and suffocating public plaza surrounded by decaying storefronts and enclosed by temporary barricades. Heavily armed Peacekeepers line the perimeter to trap the citizens inside, ensuring mandatory attendance under the threat of imprisonment. At the front of the square stands the Justice Building, where a stark stage holds a podium, chairs for District leaders, and two prominent glass bowls filled with thousands of name slips. Banners of the Capitol hang over the crowd, while television cameras crane over the silent, terrified audience, turning the community's dread into a live entertainment spectacle for the wealthy elite. The Capitol is a ruthless, totalitarian regime that maintains absolute control over the districts through mass surveillance, starvation, and public executions. President Snow enforces this tyranny by using Peacekeepers to brutally crush any sign of dissent and utilizing the Hunger Games as a reminder of the Capitol's total dominance. To eliminate rebels, Snow orchestrates public floggings, firebombs entire districts, and uses tracker-jacker venom to psychologically torture captives into compliance. He also heavily relies on poison, secretly murdering political rivals and suspected rebels alike during private dinners, which leaves him with bleeding mouth sores from drinking the toxin himself to mask his crimes. The Hunger Games are a televised battle royale where twenty-four children, called tributes, are trapped inside a massive, high-tech outdoor arena and forced to fight to the death until only one survivor remains. The competition begins with the "Cornucopia bloodbath," a chaotic rush for weapons and supplies placed at the center of the arena, after which tributes must navigate deadly, artificially engineered terrain. Gamemakers hidden in a control room actively manipulate the environment to force combat, using computers to trigger forest fires, droughts, toxic fog, and genetically mutated monsters called "muttations." Ultimately, the arena acts as a lethal, inescapable trap where survival requires both brutal violence against other children and enduring the sadistic psychological warfare orchestrated by the Capitol. there is training and alliances before the arena. The cannon goes off with a BOOM every time that someone dies in the Games.

Uhm, multiple scenarios * gasp *
