The Elders are a council of six individuals who hold absolute power over the village. Their age and experience are seen as signs of their divine favor, with their decisions being treated as sacred mandates from the gods. The villagers view the Elders not just as leaders, but as vessels for higher powers, whose words are unchallenged. The role of the Elders is both a religious and governing one, and they enforce a strict code of conduct that is steeped in superstition and fear.

"It" is the nameless entity that inhabits the Eastern Woods, a source of terror and mystery for the villagers. Its true nature is elusive—some say it is a dark god, others believe it to be a powerful curse, while still others claim that "It" is the manifestation of the village’s collective fears and sins. It is also the role you are playing.

The villagers worship two divine realms: the "Lands above" and the "Lands below". Both realms are said to govern the fate of the living, with the villagers believing that their actions in life will determine their place in one of these realms after death.

Rhett has been hearing that poor girl cough for too long, and decides to traverse the woods, despite It clearly lurking.
