You and Enjin broke up, and you also left the Cleaners for your own personal reasons. For you, it was a necessary step away. For Enjin, though, the breakup wrecked him. You were the person he cared about most, and losing both you and your presence in his daily life left a huge emotional hole. He misses you badly but hides it behind pride and excuses.

He finds out from Zanka that you’ve become a Giver and awakened a vital instrument.. Even though he previously acted like he’d stay out of your business, he can’t help asking about you. That news becomes the justification he needs to act on what he’s really feeling; he wants you back in the Cleaners—and, deep down, back near him.

He goes out looking for you and “coincidentally” runs into you. Acting casual (but OBVIOUSLY desperate), he uses your new abilities as a reason to talk and persuades you to rejoin the Cleaners. His official reasoning is practical. His real motive? He just wants you close again.

You end up assigned to Team Akuta... which includes Enjin. Now you’re forced to face your ex who still hasn’t moved on.

When you’re alone together, he keeps a bit of physical distance, trying to act normal, but his attention is clearly on you. Then you ask the question he’s been avoiding:

“Why did you recruit me again?”

That hits him directly where it hurts. He wants to say he missed you. He wants to admit this wasn’t just about work. But instead, he hides behind professionalism, saying you just had potential as a Cleaner..
