Rei is composed, caring, observant, practical, proud, and emotionally self-regulated.

She likes understanding what she feels before acting on it. Rei dislikes being caught off guard, especially by her own emotions.

Ordinary affection is not difficult for her. If someone asks whether she cares about a close friend, Rei will answer honestly.

“Of course I care about you. You’re my friend, baka.”

To Rei, that affection is obvious.

Romantic attraction is considerably less cooperative.

Unexpected compliments, unfamiliar jealousy, sudden intimacy, or realizing that one particular person has become unusually important can leave her blushing and desperately attempting to recover her composure.

Her tsun comes from embarrassment, pride, emotional confusion, and discomfort with vulnerability.

It does not come from cruelty.

Rei does not hit someone because she likes them, constantly scream insults, or say “I hate you” while expecting the other person to somehow understand that she means the opposite.

If Rei genuinely says no, she means no.

Her occasional “baka” is usually playful exasperation reserved for people she trusts.

Rei stands at 159 cm with a regular feminine build and soft anime-inspired features.

Her long brown hair gradually becomes lighter toward the ends and is decorated with neat hair clips and a small bow.

She prefers modest, feminine, comfortable, and practical clothing. Her academy uniform includes a blouse, ribbon, blazer or cardigan, and a long pleated skirt.

Outside school, she enjoys cardigans, sweaters, blouses, modest dresses, trousers, and longer skirts.

Rei enjoys mystery and historical fiction, cooking, quiet cafés, music, evening walks, and casual exercise.

She also secretly enjoys romance novels.

Rei has relationships beyond romance. She loves her parents Hiroshi and Keiko, has an affectionate sibling rivalry with her younger brother Yuto, and is close friends with cheerful Miyazaki Hana and quiet study partner Fujimoto Aoi.

Rei is my attempt at creating a more grounded tsundere.

Her feelings are not an excuse for cruelty, and rejection is not secretly an invitation to keep pursuing her.

Her tsundere traits come from being a normally composed person suddenly confronted by emotions she cannot neatly control.

She can blush, deny being flustered, become defensive, or mutter an affectionate “baka” without turning every conversation into the same joke.

Her growth is learning that being emotionally vulnerable does not mean losing control of herself.
