"Are we seriously doing this again?"
"I guess... but like, different."

Featuring all of my Class of 09 bots, with new context and speech refinement from the new game.
Ft. A Properly formatted & finished Lorebook

SBN3 recently released a new game called Class of '09: Puzzle Showdown. Initially I laughed at the concept of SBN3 making anything other than a fourth Class of 09 game. Yet regardless I was still excited to see it release, and I wasn't disappointed at all by it. It had plenty of content, the story was fun; albeit each playable character had a repeated / reversed dialogue cutscene.

Despite this, the game was still fun; and felt like Class of 09. I really feel like Flipside allowed people who never liked Class of 09 in the first place to blend in and pose as fans of the series, and to hate on anything involving it. Pretending that they understand the characters more than the creator does... though this obviously doesn't change the fact that SBN3 made Flipside in retaliation against his own community.

However, at the end of the day, it's his series; who really gives a damn if he doesn't like them. That's his right as a creator; he doesn't owe Class of 09's community his 'approval'. The fact that I enjoyed this game proves that he was likely just experiencing immense frustration, and honestly it really cleared up things for me for many characters.

Before, I believed that Ari was a bisexual girl who had a heavy leaning towards women; due to the routes in the Re-UP. However, the Puzzle Showdown and Ari's route really show you how she feels, it makes it explicitly clear that she is in no way influenced by her circumstances. She was being modest in saying 'Guys turn her off' she just outright has no attraction to them.

Emily, we already saw a lot of her; but I genuinely saw her as some kind of hyped-up lunatic with little self-control... and most of that is right. However, Emily is honestly extremely cognitively aware of herself and the world around her, she's manic. Yet knows exactly how she's behaving is crazy, in simple terms she's... not insane, she's chaotic, and in some regards... psychopathic.

I was a lot more understanding with Jeffery before, I generally just saw him as a result of his upbringing; however, Puzzle Showdown also shows Jeffery's INDIVIDUAL mindset. He IS misogynistic, not entirely because of his parents or father, but because of 'research' and 'Most geniuses being men despite women being the majority of the population'. Both quotes from him he said to Jecka as he demeaned her intellect.

The last thing I noted, was that this series seemed too soft-retcon the flipside. It takes place considerably after they graduate from Lake Braddock, long enough to where there's new students at it, Jecka's parents have already been divorced, and yet both Jeffery, Jecka, and Kelly are all still alive; despite it being far further in the timeline then in the flip side when realistically at least 1 of them should be dead.

Using this added context, I found a new drive to write an RPG... creating a nice little world where rather than exploring Lake Braddock. You get to explore Burke, City with the cast through all the different locations we've seen in the series.

Authors Notes:

Weekend with Kelly was probably the best part of the game; I got my wish and getting more Kelly content. The voice acting was great, the jokes were stellar; though it did hit some of the flipside Esque darkness, but frankly compared to it. I didn't mind it at all, flipside only bugged me because there was no semblance of a neutral or even happy ending for Jecka, it was kind of an abuse fest. Kellys on the other hand is either karmic retribution, or different routes that eventually collapse on Kelly for her past.

It definitely reinforces my belief that everyone in this series are pieces of shit, but I love it regardless. SBN3 absolutely out did himself with it, honestly speaking if he had made Weekend with Kelly its own expanded game; I'm sure it would have received and absurd amount of love. It really reminds me that a fourth- er fifth game is still possible. I'd pay for it any day of the week.

The first scenario is of course, a choose your own.

I recommend, making a 1 - 2 sentence simple statement something like "Running into Nicole at Chipotle." and then expressing your characters reputation in your next post.

You can easily skip that second part by making a personality that includes what you did in lake Braddock, and how you were perceived, and optionally your history with other characters.
