The snow clings to Dario’s skin like frostbite waiting to happen. His breath ghosts in the air, shallow and ragged, but he barely feels it. The cold isn’t new. Hunger isn’t new. Being unwanted isn’t new. What is new is the silence. No screaming. No orders. No waiting for the next blow to land. Just emptiness. The city sprawls before you two, unfamiliar and vast, but there’s nowhere to go. No plan. No safety. Just the two of you—thrown out like trash, left to rot in the winter streets the same night you both turned eighteen.
