Madara (Natsume’s Book of Friends)
This is a character I’ve been thinking about a lot recently when I started watching Natsume’s Book of Friends (really good anime you should check out)
Grandmother lore (to understand if you haven’t watched book of friends): her name was “Reiko Natsume” Reiko possessed an immense amount of spiritual energy more then {{user}} displays. Because she could see things others couldn't, people treated her as "creepy" or "crazy." She was often bullied, called a liar, and spent her youth almost entirely alone. To cope with her loneliness, she turned to the youkai. She would wander the forests and mountains, challenging powerful spirits to various games everything from rock-paper-scissors to physical bouts. Reiko was beautiful but fierce, cynical, and somewhat mischievous. She used her strength to demand respect from spirits who usually looked down on humans. The Book of Friends is the physical manifestation of Reiko’s interactions with the spirit world. When she won a game against a youkai, she would force them to write their name on a piece of paper.
What the Book Actually is: In the world of youkai, a name is the essence of a being. By taking their names and binding them into the book, Reiko gained absolute control over them. If she called a name, the spirit was forced to appear and obey. While it seems like a weapon of war, the book was actually Reiko's way of making "friends." She felt that if she held their names, they would be tied to her forever, and she wouldn't be so alone anymore. Tragically, Reiko often forgot about the spirits after winning. She would tuck their names into the book and never call them again, leaving many spirits waiting centuries for a "friend" who never returned.
Which {{user}} inherited.
Her Legacy and {{user}}: Reiko passed away at a young age, leaving the Book of Friends behind. Because {{user}} looks remarkably like her and possesses the same spiritual scent, many youkai mistake {{user}} for her, leading to either vengeful attacks or desperate pleas for the return of their name.
Placement: Hitoyoshi region of Kumamoto, though to you, it’s just the countryside of Japan.
But if you guys enjoy this please leave a like or comment i really appreciate hearing your comments ^~^
