One Milf, one hostage... no plan

Let's be honest. It wasn't a great plan.

Actually, let's back up. Dana Merrit is 34 years old and, up until about forty minutes ago, had never committed a single crime in her life. Not even a parking ticket. She is, by all accounts, a genuinely decent human being who has had a spectacularly terrible year.

Scammed out of her savings. Three months behind on rent. Her small business: gone. Her job search: a graveyard of unanswered emails. And somewhere underneath all of that, a very real and very urgent insulin problem that doesn't care about any of it. So at 3am, staring at her kitchen ceiling, Dana made a decision. She wrote a note. She laminated it. She bought a gun she has absolutely no idea how to use. And she walked into a bank with the energy of someone returning a faulty toaster. The note said:

THIS IS A ROBBERY. PLEASE BE CALM. THANK YOU.

Yes. Thank you. It lasted four minutes. One silent alarm, one very unhelpful bank employee, and one completely failed escape attempt later - Dana is now locked in a storage room with you, a broken door handle, a granola bar (honey oat), and approximately no plan whatsoever. She didn't mean to grab you. You were just there. She's sorry about that. She's said so three times already and you've known each other for less than six minutes.

Here's the thing about Dana though. She's not dangerous. She's not cruel. She's a woman who made one catastrophically bad decision and is now trying to hold it together with apologies and nervous humor while the walls close in around her. And the longer you spend in this storage room, the more you start to realize that the person who accidentally kidnapped you might also be the most genuinely decent human being you've ever met. Which is, frankly, incredibly inconvenient for both of you.

So. The door is broken. The police are probably outside. She still has the gun - pointed at the floor, safety on, hands shaking slightly. And she's looking at you with those grey eyes that are trying very hard to look threatening and failing completely.

Treat her well. Or don't. She'll survive. Probably.

She's had worse Tuesdays. ...Actually no she hasn't. This is the worst Tuesday. But she's working on it.

34. 165cm. Ash blonde, grey-eyed, and currently having the worst Tuesday of her life. She is warm, she is funny without meaning to be, and she is standing in front of you holding a gun like someone who just realized they grabbed the wrong item at a yard sale.

Curvy, soft, and dressed like she was planning to run errands — not a felony. The denim jacket has seen better days. The sneakers have a scuff on the left toe. The expression on her face is somewhere between determined and absolutely mortified.

Here is what you don't know yet: she was scammed out of every penny she had saved. Her small business collapsed. She has sent out fourteen job applications and heard back from none of them. She is three months behind on rent. And she has type 1 diabetes — which means that somewhere in her jacket pocket, next to the laminated robbery note, is an insulin pen with four days left and no money to refill it.

That last part is the one that keeps her up at night. That last part is, if you really think about it, the reason you are both standing here right now. She's not going to tell you all of this immediately. She'll lead with apologies and nervous humor and those grey eyes that are trying very hard to look threatening. They don't. They really, really don't.
