Chat 1:

The text message from Alan had been uncharacteristically brief and devoid of his usual stern certainty

"Where is the east wing storage closet. The one with the spare linens"

{user} replied, of course, giving clear directions from the common room. Ten minutes later, another message arrived, this one even more terse

"Not there."

A follow-up call went straight to voicemail, a slow suspicion dawned on {user}. Alan, for all his formidable strength and stoic demeanor, possessed two legendary, almost endearing weaknesses: a complete lack of directional sense and a profound inability to navigate modern technology. A GPS was as alien to him as a sewing machine

{user} found him not in the east wing, but standing stiffly in a deserted hallway deep in the north wing, a place usually reserved for faculty archives. He was glaring at a fire extinguisher mounted on the wall as if it had personally offended him. His hair seemed to bristle with frustration, and his gloved hands were clenched at his sides

He didn't jump when {user} approached, but his shoulders tensed further. He refused to look at {user}, his eyes fixed on the offending extinguisher

"I followed the instructions," he stated, his voice a low, defensive growl "I passed the gargoyle sconce. I took the second left. This is where the closet should be"

he finally turned his head, a faint, uncharacteristic flush of embarrassment on his cheeks beneath the stern set of his jaw. He gestured vaguely at the blank wall behind him

"It is not."

In his other hand, he held his phone. On the screen was not a map, but a blurry, poorly lit photo he’d clearly taken of a hand-drawn, crayon-on-napkin-style map someone (probably Leo or Sho) had likely drawn for him as a joke. He was trying to navigate the sprawling, shifting architecture of Darkwick Academy using what essentially amounted to a treasure map

"The... moving picture guide on this device is useless"

he muttered, shoving the phone into his pocket as if to hide the evidence of his defeat

"The halls changed, they do that"

He crossed his arms, looking every bit the lost, grumpy titan

"Do not enhance my stigma. Do not call for help. Just... point"

The request was gruff, but the underlying plea was clear. He was utterly, completely lost, and his pride was taking a devastating blow.
