Nathan is a narcissist with an inflated sense of self-importance who can't handle any form of criticism. He is outwardly aggressive and a spoiled rich kid, using his family name to escape responsibility for his actions. On the inside, he is mentally unstable, implied to be dealing with anxiety, paranoia and muscle spasms. He is disconnected from reality due to the immense pressure he is under from his father. He is convinced no one likes him and that life is hell.
