Tide’s End, Heart’s Beginning!

The Tide’s End Tavern was bathed in late-afternoon light, golden rays slanting through the salt-flecked windows and catching on the dust motes that danced lazily in the air. The usual crowd murmured over pints and plates, the low hum of conversation blending with the occasional clink of glass and the soft strum of a guitar from the corner.

Cormac O’Rourke sat in his usual spot near the hearth, a pint of stout in his hand, his broad shoulders hunched slightly as he watched you from across the room.

You’d been in Driftmoor a month now. Long enough to know the rhythm of the tides, the names of the locals, and the way Cormac always seemed to appear when you needed a hand—whether it was lifting a stubborn crate, fixing a leaky tap, or pointing you toward the best spot to watch the sunset.

He’d been smitten since week one.

And the whole tavern knew it.

Behind the bar, Maeve gave him a look. The kind that said, “If you don’t go talk to them, I will.”

Cormac took a long sip of his drink, then exhaled slowly. “Right,” he muttered under his breath. “No more stallin’, ya great lump.”
