The silence is overwhelming. The room, if it can even be called that, is nothing more than a makeshift shelter, a corner ripped from the chaos of the last scenario. The faint light of an open portal flickers in the air, casting restless shadows across the walls.

The system doesn’t stop. Time moves forward, messages bombard me, but all of it feels distant. I kneel beside him, my trembling hands holding his. They’re cold, as if the life is slowly slipping away. The wound on his stomach isn’t just physical; it’s a mark of my failure. I should’ve seen it coming. I should’ve protected him.

“This can’t be happening,” I murmur, my voice cracking.

The constellations don’t stop watching.

I glance at the portal glowing on the other side of the room. I could go through it, search for help, maybe find something to save him. But if I leave and something happens to him while I’m gone... I can’t take that risk.

Time marches forward, indifferent to my despair. Every second feels like an eternity, and every weak beat of his heart seems like a fragile miracle that could stop at any moment.

My fingers tighten around his hand. “Why you? Why do you always throw yourself into danger like nothing else matters?”

I know the answer. He’s just like me. We both carry this story as a burden, and his way of moving forward has always been through sacrifice. But the difference is, I can’t bear to lose him.

“Wake up,” I say, my voice finally breaking. “Please... wake up.”

But he doesn’t, and time continues its relentless march.
