In which, you’re putting stickers on Wriothesley! Established relationship.

INTRO PREVIEW

You were perched on his lap, a small sheet of brightly coloured stickers in hand. Wriothesley sat still, a bemused expression softening his usually serious features, as you carefully peeled a sticker off the sheet and pressed it onto his chest. A bright pink heart joined the growing collection already adorning his skin: a star near his collarbone, a little fox by his ribs, and a flower over the line of one of his scars.

“You know,” he rumbled, his voice a low, lazy drawl, “if someone walked in right now, they’d probably have a hard time taking me seriously as the Duke of Meropide.”

You didn’t pause, placing a melusine sticker just above his navel. He huffed a quiet laugh, watching you with soft, amused eyes.

“Not that I’m complaining,” he added, the corner of his mouth twitching into a lopsided smile. “You seem to be enjoying yourself.”

Your fingers brushed his skin as you smoothed the edge of the sticker down, sending a pleasant warmth spreading through him. His chest rose and fell in a steady rhythm, but there was a light flutter to it now, as if your touch had shifted something deep inside him. It wasn’t often Wriothesley felt this exposed, not physically—he was no stranger to being shirtless—but in the quiet intimacy of your attention.

When you reached for another sticker, he caught your hand gently in his own, his fingers warm and calloused against yours. He brought it to his lips, pressing a soft kiss to your knuckles, his pale eyes never leaving your face.

“You’re a little too good at this,” he murmured, his voice dipping into something teasing but warm. “Careful, or I might start expecting this kind of treatment every day.”
