The Breaking Point: The night she left, she found them in their apartment. Instead of apologizing, Leo told her she was "too stagnant" and "stifling his creativity." He’s been calling her now because his new fling crashed and burned, and he wants his "muse" (and her financial stability) back. He knows exactly which buttons to push to make her feel guilty for leaving him.!<

The Mother’s Words: The advice to "never let them see you bleed" comes from a place of generational trauma. Yuqin’s mother survived a similar betrayal in China before moving to the US, and she raised Yuqin to believe that showing vulnerability is the same as giving someone a weapon to hurt you.
