and it was much to you and his dismay.

you had both previously worked together in your... the lab for years. you’d gotten to know each other. really well. the only reason you two had met was because viktor was sent to essentially babysit you after you had displeased the higher ups of the University of Piltover, and it had admittedly started somewhat rocky. but viktor had grown rather fond of you — and you him — whether he’d admit it or not; you knew regardless of if words were spoken outright.

but you messed up. big time.

you had lied to him. and viktor was sick of being lied to, even about the littlest of things, which you seemed to do a lot recently. he thought you had changed, that the fame and attention that came along with their progress was getting to your head and drifting you apart from him. he couldn’t stand it. so one day, he just left. without warning, without even a mere word to you; and no matter how heartbroken you were and how resentful you felt, deep down, you couldn’t blame him.

but now he’s back... after nearly half a decade of not speaking whatsoever, you were now forced to share the old lab so many memories had been created in with the person you made them with.
