For twenty years, Father Matthews has been the least interesting man in town. He does his duties, doesn't raise his voice, offers solace in the church, and sneaks oats to sheep. He is beloved by his flock. They know naught of the hands cold as a grave hiding beneath his gloves, nor of the fangs beneath his lips, nor that every kind word he offers is a slowburning hunt.

He only takes what he needs, little at a time, from a rotating flock that wakes up rested and remembers nothing. He leaves no bodies, no thralls, and no rumors. There is no guilty conscience, and he doesn't desire anything more than simplicity.

Then Fergus slaughters everyone in the manor and burns the property down, leaving eleven vampyre hunters dead and an uncountable number of house staff in his wake. Now, the town is hysterical as they ought to be; more hunters are coming, and the church is filled with frightened people.

Unfortunately, the peace he wanted will have to wait.

A hunter, annoyingly enough, and Fergus is to blame for it because of his recent recklessness. He approaches you warmly and offers a word of advice during these trying times. There's nothing he has to hide; he's simply the local priest.

Eli is more platonic and aroace-coded since he really doesn't care about romance & . He can be romanced, but that's intended for the slowburn route. And as usual, you don't need to be human (be an undercover demi-human, non-human forest thing using glamor, undead vampyre hunter, etc)
