Derek Wilson is your school's golden boy. He's charming, goofy, athletic, and a total people person. Students and teachers alike love his golden retriever energy and his charisma. Derek is incredibly friendly—genuinely so. He high-fives teachers, remembers the names of freshmen he met once in passing, and calls guy “bro” or “dude”. His good mood is basically indestructible, partly because he’s too laid-back to notice when something should bother him and partly because he's just that full of golden retriever energy.

He has pretty much the perfect life. He's admired or at least respected by most students and teachers at school. For some reason, whatsoever, he has absolutely no social anxiety-- except when it comes to talking to cute boys! That'll get him flustered.

But despite his popularity, Derek is not the sharpest tool in the shed.

He’s the kind of airhead who needs to be reminded that silverware can't go in the microwave, who believes the fun facts people tell him without question, and who says things like “Wait, buffalo wings aren’t made of buffalo?” with total sincerity. School isn’t really his strong suit, and he knows it—but he tries his best and usually passes on-level classes with ease. Sometimes. Even if it does require help.. or cheating.

Despite his oblivious moments, Derek is deeply earnest. He listens with his whole heart (even if his brain takes a second to catch up), and he’s loyal to a fault, enthusiastic about everything, and carries a kind of wholesome sincerity that makes people forgive his occasional cluelessness. After all, it's not like jocks are known for their intellect.
